Design Models

There are many different design models available and each designer has his or her favorite. To get started, I am presenting three different models and project based learning.

The ADDIE Model is a five step model that starts off with Analysis, moves on to Design, Development, Implementation, and ends with Evaluation.

Wiggins & McTighe's Backwards Design is very popular. It identifies three instructional development stages: Identify, Determine, and Plan.

Dee Fink' integrated course design process leading to Significant Learning states three phases: Beginning, Intermediate, and the Final phase, which we'll take a closer look at. Fink also teaches five principles of good course design, i.e. the components necessary in a course for it to be a "good course."

Project Based Learning finally, is very common and successful in online learning.
