Social Tools

There are several Web 2.0 social tools available. A common denominator for them is that they allow for social networking and interaction online. Under this umbrella are included both active social networking sites as well as blogs. Social tools allow for the development of web pages under one umbrella in groups. Linkedin has approximately 30 million members Reid Hoffman, who started LinkedIn in 2002, regards it as "a system where the good are rewarded by the community for theor deeds, while liards and cheaters are exposed" (BusinessWeek (November 17,2008.) LinkedIn offers free membership and upgraded memberships for a fee. Members can create their profiles and link to groups that hold members with the same interests. LinkedIn is a great tool for networking when looking for jobs or new opportunities.

Vox (offsite link)
Wox offers free memeberships. The site states that they are the only service that combines words (blog), images, music, books, audio, and video. Video can be uploaded from digital cameras, YouTube videos, Flickr, photobucket, amazon.com, istockphoto, and ifilm-materials can be linked directly without having to upload the content again to Vox. Vox offer many different page design and has privacy controls.
